Hot. Been too hot to enjoy a smoke out in the garage so I have one at night when I go for my walk. It's only about 100 degrees then.

Yeah but its a dry heat, right?

I'm back up to about 8 miles each morning depending on the route. My departure time just keeps getting earlier, I took off at 4:45 this morning, a good 45 minutes before sun up.

I do my shooting around 0600. Gives me time to have about 6 cups of coffee and get some trigger time in before it gets too hot and all the idiots show up.

8 miles a day is great. I was up to 3 a day earlier this summer but got lazy and quit. I was doing my 3 miles between 3 and 4 in the afternoon so the 100% humidity and mid-90's temperature sort of made up for the relatively short walk. Wore my ass out every time.

Its been so hot down here, two weeks ago I went to the rifle range and about had a heat stroke. Had to pack my shit up and leave before I was finished shooting.

I worked construction throughout the year including the summer up until this year, so I'm still not used to having to exercise in order to maintain my strength and stamina.

Yeah, hell, I've not been to the range since the the spring. I don't enjoy shooting these days when its hot and muggy.

Yeah, I can flat get weird when it comes to running and or walking. My issue is my damned feet. I was running 5 miles give or take each each morning then my feet started giving me fits so I dialed it back to walking at a good march and just increased the distance and the hills, but my feet are still fucked so I go to see a podiatrist on the 7th of August.

Once the sun is overhead, the heat mirage is so bad through the scope you can barely make out your target. Not to mention that everything you try and touch gives you 3rd degree burns. Yesterday I had to contend with red ants on my shooting mat, too.

i tried shooting a few weeks ago in the rain which was nice until it started monsooning and the trail out of the desert turned into a raging river. No one can ever accuse me of being a fair-weather shooter, that's for sure.

This is going to sound weird but I used to get shin splints like a mofo from running until I started running in my chucks. Running without any kind of padding helps you concentrate on your form and you don't transfer as much shock to your body. I haven't a problem since, except that I still hate running.

If I put too much pressure on my left foot, I can feel where the nail went through it last spring. Yeow!

Yes it went all the way in. I had to use my right foot to hold the board down while I pulled my left foot off, because the board kept coming with my boot every time I tried to lift it. The x-ray showed that it passed between my tarsals (or whatever they're called) and stopped just short of exiting through the top of my foot.

Shit, I need to leave the wife at home on a 'hill' day. Tuesday I went up Mt. Doom 6 times, today after one trip up and back down she wanted to go home. Its a steep sum bitch for a residential street. Its right at a mile up and back according to my pedometer. No, I can walk a 20 year old into the ground as long as my feet don't crap out on me. August 7th can't get here quick enough.
