    DRT .45

Out and about today at what is known locally as "the mennonite mall" (basically like walmart but dutch I saw they had DRT HP's in 9 and .45 on sale respectively for $10 and $13/20. I picked up a box of each and was wondering if anyone heard much about them? I am no fan of light for caliber super bullets and have no expectation for these performing miracles. However I figured since they're cheap if they work OK I'd pick up a couple boxes of the .45's for the G30.

Hmmm. I've seen them at a few spots but never really read into them.

I know just buying the projectiles they use is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Yeah, google is telling me this stuff sold for $70/50 when it came out. I'm guessing the store bought it during the ammo crisis and just wants rid of it. I want to run some of it tomorrow and see how it functions.

And I forgot to mention that with my purchase they gave me a free diary and ice cream cone.

You probably watched this already, but here it is anyway. I know its not 45 but this should give you some kind of idea.

Found this, penetration is pretty meh, but expansion is interesting

I don't think they'd fit in the NAA

    Probably not.

Just checking. Those things would probably work as long as you hit flesh and did it at close range. (Maybe home defense? ) I would guess that they'd lose efficacy the further away from the target you were and would be useless for barrier penetration. (Obviously, they're frangible.)

I'm in the process of testing some solid copper and brass rounds. Each round is individually cut. They remind me of the old aguila IQ's the way they fragment but they're supposed to retain penetration.

Frangibles are good for in-apartment personal protection, where if you miss and a round goes through a wall or two. The frangible could still do some hurt to someone in the next apartment, but should be a lot less than a standard FMJ or HP.

Sorry, no experience with those rounds. I generally run Gold Dots by Speer.
