    Martini Enfield...

Scored a complete receiver for a 1888 Martini Enfield rifle at an auction yesterday for 5 bucks. I have always wanted one of these to build a custom rifle ever since my Trinidad St Jr college days. That was the popular receiver to build a custom rifle on by the gunsmith majors. I think I will build the rifle in 38-55 caliber. All the bluing is gone but there is no rust inside the receiver. I doubt if I can find all the parts to restore the rifle so that is why I am going the custom route.....chris3

Sounds interesting. I believe I've seen some custom rifles in Gun Digest that used that action. What made you decide on going with the 38-55?
