Statistics In Chicago Demonstrate Effect of CCW on Crime Rate.

Well well well, the numbers are starting to come in. What will Rahm and McCarthy say now...?

Since Illinois started granting concealed carry permits this year, the number of robberies that have led to arrests in Chicago has declined 20 percent from last year, according to police department statistics. Reports of burglary and motor vehicle theft are down 20 percent and 26 percent, respectively. In the first quarter, the city’s homicide rate was at a 56-year low.

After reading the article, am I to presume that charges were filed on the 'illegal' people in possession in ratio to the firearms confiscated?

Dan, do you refer to this?
The Chicago Police Department has credited better police work as a reason for the lower crime rates this year. Police Superintendent Garry F. McCarthy noted the confiscation of more than 1,300 illegal guns in the first three months of the year, better police training and “intelligent policing strategies.”
I'm not sure I understand your question, but what McCarthy is doing is trying to grab credit for the drop in crime that is a result of concealed carry which he so vehemently opposed. He is such a buffoon.

The article doesn't break down the arrest stats any further so its hard to say but I'd make an informed presumption that the number represents a mix of on-view and call initiated pinches as well as arrests associated with unrelated investigations for drugs, domestic violence, etc...The usual crap.
