It sounds like you're on the road to pushing it too hard and making yourself sicker.

    Best of luck to you.

I thought, hey, getting over the cold, wife is pregnant, so I need to get them. All my life I have had flu vaccines, never got sick. I decided to get all three: tetanus booster, flu, and PNEUMONIA. Never had the pneumonia vaccine before, or pneumonia.
Sorry to hear about the bad reaction you had to the vaccines. I would suggest that you ask a doctor if there are any special precautions you should take due to your wife being pregnant (like wash your hands a lot or don't get too close to her) due to the possibility of your vaccines also making her feel ill (and worse, could it hurt the baby?).

Vaccines are usually "killed viruses". That is, the spikey body (protein coat) of the virus is intact, but the RNA is destroyed. So, when injected, your body says "Oh shit a virus!" (due to detecting the protein coat pattern) and begins making antibodies to kill it (as well as releasing histamine to raise your body temperature to make the antibodies more effective (work faster). In addition to causing the fever, the histamine also caused your runny nose (which is why if you have allergies you take an ANTI-histamine).

Since the RNA (like DNA) of the killed virus is inactive, the virus can't infect your cells and replicate (making you ACTUALLY sick). All it does is trick your body into pre-building antibodies for the virus (which gives you immunity to a future real infection).

Anyway, the point is that while you are feeling sick from the vaccines, you are also shedding the viral coats and they could also make your wife sick and possibly hurt the baby. ASk a doctor what (if anything) you need to do.

    Good luck.

It's great that you're a dedicated instructor, but your health and your family are more important. Let a sub teach, then go back when you're WELL

Your wife and kids need you more than a lecture hall full of bored students.

Teach them about the great purge, and how many believe he may have intended to attack Europe while it was weakened. I feel that the generally accepted 'History' ignores a lot of things. Like why was Russia rearming so rapidly? Why did Stalin purge his military of untrustworthy communists?

Regardless, obviously, I cannot have a sub do my notes on this with my kids. Do all the kids get into it? No. But, maybe 40-50% really get into it, as they have had previous exposure to Hitler and the Holocaust. Another 10-20% will pay attention just to pass the class. The last are the kids always suspended for fights, drugs, or just cannot care any less about school.
Do you teach how the Versailles Treaty requirements put an impossible burden on the German people and virtually guaranteed WW-II?

Hitler could have gone down in history as the greatest leader of all time if he hadn't gone psycho and did what he did.

If he devoted his energy and incredible public speaking skills to GERMANY, he could have used negotiations or military force to cancel Versailles, get back annexed German territory and rearrange the German economy out of the red.

If he successfully did that, Germany would have been a shining example to the world (instead of carrying the shame of what they did for all time).

I meant, above, going to my room to set up for my sub. Just sucks.

Yes, did spend some time on Versailles Treaty. But the students of mine that had me as 10th graders also already got Hitlers anger and obsession with getting back at France for WWI. I give them as much detail as I can squeeze in. Many of the communists I teach with preach about 'concepts rather than content'. Thats great. Its how they manage to convince a lot of young kids how great socialism and the dimocrat party are. The CONCEPT of altruism and the lefts ideas sound great to a low level intellectual. But the CONTENT of their ideas, the history of them, is quite another thing in entirety. Which is why I do not subscribe to the belief that teachers should all but ignore content and teach only concepts.

The CONCEPT of socialism sounds alright. The CONTENT proves its not so.

It's one thing to use terrorism to make a political statement, but the wanton mutilation and suffering of innocents? How does that forward your political goals? When done in the name of religion, how does that earn you brownie points with God?

Fuck religious extremism. And especially fuck the "religion of peace." "

    Holy Shit.

What you describe is not even a part of modern historiography. It sounds just like an excuse to teach propaganda to the students.

Honestly it sounds like your colleagues would prefer to be political scientists or maybe philosophers.

You know what, when they get to the civil war, tell them to focus on the CONCEPT of the confederacy instead of the content and what actually occurred during those years, and see how they like that. I bet they'll suddenly be back on the side of content. Unless they decide to straight up lie about the confederacy and describe them as being 19'th century NAZIs.

This is why, on here, I constantly tell you guys that the average tax payer has no clue what is going on in our schools. Its scary. And, this concept over content crap is being taught colleges of education. Focus less on the details, more on the concept. And your point on the confederacy is SPOT ON, something I would not have thought to say.

This is why we are slowly sinking by the left. I will tell you that there are more and more conservative teachers in our schools, but still no where near the majority. Like, maybe 20%? Still more though than when I was in school. Growing up, I had 1 high school teacher who was moderate (many came out openly in favor of Gore in 2000), and in college I had 1 moderate and 1 outright conservative. The conservative was a political science professor, crazy, but interesting. Toured Russia during the Prague Spring, saw the tanks on trains heading for Czechoslovakia. Hated socialism and communism. The other was just a weak kneed moron who liked black powder guns.

    This seems fitting:
