That's not the only way they spread, what I'm saying is if you take the basic precaution of not licking random people, you're gonna be just fine.

Anything beyond that is pretty much overkill at this point.

    This one can't.

And if we treat it carefully and aggressively now, it likely never will.

[QUOTE5.56NATO]When this gets rolling I expect ems types (let alone others in healthcare) to stop showing up for work. [/QUOTE]

It's highly unlikely it will "get rolling" and the only reason they would stop showing up for work is if they were ill.

Why you went to crazytown after that is beyond me. A massive germophobe clearly states there is nothing to worry about.

even had a nice graphic to test whether or not you have ebola

So who would have sat next to this guy on the flight from Liberia to the US? For me? No fucking way. Maybe this shows my ignorance but I would use an abundance of caution with this disease as this is the consequence. I suppose these guys are wearing all of that shit just for the hell of it.

They are properly dealing with a known case. Had you sat next to the guy on the plane, then you should probably take your temperature over the next few weeks and limit your contact with other people. Probably be a good idea to check in with your doctor/hospital or the CDC. Other than that, you are fine.

If you are worried about potential illness to yourself, it makes much more sense to get a flu shot and try not to be one of the thousands of Americans who will die of the flu this year. Ebola...not something you need to put any real thought into worrying about.

If you were literally trying to get ebola without leaving the US, you would have a hell of a hard time managing that. You pretty much would have to shoot your way into that guys hospital room and make sure you got a decent amount of fluid on yourself to manage it.

That protective gear is obviously just to keep them from licking the patient. If they weren't wearing it, they'd be going to town on that ebola victim like Hillary on Huma.

But you have to lick someone to get ebola, right?

I did not say you have to lick people to get it, I said not licking people was a good way to insure you don't get it. It's a mild bit of humor to let you know that you are overreacting.

But, whatever, if you are bound and determined to worry about getting ebola, by all means go right ahead. Either way, panic or don't, you aren't going to get ebola.

No panic, just wondering how far it will spread and what measures 0bamaregim will use to take advantage of this crisis.

Assume what? That it's not airborne? No, that I base on fact. Were it that contagious there would be many more than 6,000 infected.

Or did you mean I assume you haven't come into contact with the vomit, blood, sweat, saliva, etc of a person who might have ebola?

Considering its current rarity, I would assume you would have mentioned it if you had. But the current odds being roughly 50 million to one that you haven't...well, I remain confidant.

Think you guys are wrong. You do not have to touch vomit, feces, etc to get it. I can neglect to wash my hands after doing the above, run a fever, and go to the local grocery store, push a cart around, and give it to whoever uses the cart behind me. If they use the cart say, within an hour or so. Not as hard as you want to make it out.

Well, it looks like Dr. Russell Blaylock disagrees with you. He has different "facts" based on Canadian researchers' animal tests with Ebola.

    More media fear mongering.

Yes they found that under certain lab conditions they could get it to go airborne and spread to a few vertebrate species of animals, they even managed to get it to travel airborne from a pig to a non-human primate, but not from primate to primate.

They have tested 30,000 animals from outbreak areas since the first outbreak and found Ebola DNA fragments in less that a dozen animals total (excluding bats, which adds about another dozen).

Blaylock is kind of known to be "the tenth doctor", as in "9 out of 10 doctors agree".... that the tenth is a bit flaky. He's one of those guys on the 700 club telling people not to get their kids vaccinated.

I know people who refuse to wash their hands after a push. Needless to say i don't eat at their place. I imagine there's a shitload of people out there who do the same, spreading contageous filth on everything they touch. Think about that next time you're at a buffet.

The CDC doesn't have a monopoly on idiocy; now, the UN is backing the "non-isolation of West African countries idea," too. They say that isolating those countries would prevent aid workers from going in.

Well, why not place them in isolation, but allow ONLY aid workers to go in and fight it there? It's not that hard of a concept to visualize. Duhhhh!

Idiocy seems to be, exponentially, spreading.... I didn't know that "idiocy" and "stupidity" were viruses. But, it's sure acting that way.

I hope it's not too late to get vaccinated against that.

This is a liberal sort of argument. We say isolate the area until the virus stops, expecting that food, medicine, and medical personnel would be allowed in to help the people. Liberals then take this to mean that we just want to isolate West Africa until everyone is dead. This sounds very similar to the argument liberals use on immigration. We say follow the law and send those who are here illegally back away which is twisted by liberals into a policy that does not allow any immigration. Sad thing is the low information people believe it and hate those who think logically.
