As a new/first time AR owner I'm going to be picking up some extra mags and was wondering what your favorite mags are and why? TIA

I am a big fan of lancers.

Here's to pussy and gunpowder. One to live for, the other to die by.....Goddamn though, I do love the smell of 'em both !!!
I like the aluminum, GI issue type, though I make sure I buy name brands. My last purchase was, I think, from AIM for Bushmaster 30 round mags for about $9 with shipping. It was a sale and I just checked they are about $11-12 now with shipping. Watch for sales, that is the way to get the best prices for any of them.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.
Have you heard about the new corduroy pillows? They're making head lines!

With two exceptions, all the mags I have for my ARs are USGI. The two exceptions are Beta C-mags, they looks so cool!
Auh, what's an AR? ;^)
We found out what "dealing" with progressive lefties is all about. Our side gives up something, they give up nothing and the progressives come back in a month or a year and want us to give up more... rinse and repeat...
IMO, you can't go wrong with Pmags. Not much more than GI mags (sometimes cheaper), and have proven 100% reliable with me.
p mags. troys aren't bad either.
Pmags. 100% reliable for me. Also, almost indestructible. You can run them over with your car/truck and they will still function.
Here are the best deals going on Pmags now. Free shipping in the US.

GI mags are fine, HK stainless mags are heavy and not always 100%, they need a couple of range sessions before I trust them. I currently use pmags and have yet to have an issue, we even get the ones with windows which is nice.
USGI, Pmags, and Lancers. Don't waste your money on anything else. Brownells is a good go-to place for USGI mags. Many places have free shipping on Pmags. Lancers are the most expensive of the three.

I would of said Troy and Magpul PMags. C Product metal mags are also good. I have more of the Troy battle mags than any other type, next is C Products and last is the P-Mag of Gen 2 variety. I don't have any Gen 3 Pmags but like the way the smaller less bulgy floor plate on these. If and when I get around to ordering more AR/M16 type magazines I'll probably get a 10 pack of the Gen 3's.
Pmags, Troy Industries CBIR Battle mags. They've both performed flawlessly for me. Troy Industries is cheaper I think.

Update: Ordered from Southeast Outfitters on 10/6 and got the mags yesterday 10/8. Very pleased with the price ($10 each shipped) and the service.
