Don't go alone. You would need help getting there, and your "helper" is just as likely to sell you to ISIS. Especially if they are associated with the Turkish government/military. I would suggest trying to volunteer through one of the European motorcycle clubs that are helping the Kurds, if you can find a way to make contact with them. I'd be wary of them as well, as many are criminals, but I'd trust any of them before I'd trust a Turk.

First, you have to get there. Probably by crossing the Turkish border with the help of Kurds on the Turkey side. There's no guarantee the "Kurd" trying to help you is really a Kurd, Turkish military intelligence isn't stupid and they hate the Kurds. Even in Northern Iraq, everyone isn't Kurdish. You may even run into a Kurd who sees you as a profit opportunity, not every Kurd has a heart of gold - they're good and bad just like any other group of people. You've never been to this part of the world and you have no idea what you are doing, even in just trying to link up with legitimate Kurdish forces. The first three ISIS video subjects were all a hell of a lot savvier than you in running around this part of the world, and they still got their heads cut off.
