Was the Canada Parliament Shooter Using a Lever Action .22?

Looking at the picture of the shooter in this article it seems this guy was using a lever action .22, like a Henry rifle. Is that correct?

Looks more like a Winchester 92 or a clone. Might be pistol caliber though.

    Thank god for gun bans!

Can't really tell. Could be a .44 or .30-30 too.

30-30 is very popular there. Must be one of those that didn't get registered, otherwise it wouldn't have hurt anyone!

i thought it was a winchester 94, the local news reported it as a double barrel shotgun. The winchester 94 and the marlin 336 are the most common firearms in this part of Canada. 30-30 is of course the most popular calibre.

I had heard the shotgun reports as well. That rifle is definately not a double barrel shotgun, or any shotgun for that matter.

Could be both as Winchester makes a Model 9410, lever action in .410 bore.

Most news reporters have trouble with telling a polar bear and penguin apart. I have an idea they saw the underbarrel magazine and figured it had to be a double barrel shotgun.

Come on, guys, anyone can make that mistake.... Hell, I thought it was an over-under Benelli...see?

    Apparently it's both

Paulson released surveillance video showing Zehaf-Bibeau’s malicious movements after he ambushed Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, 24, at Ottawa’s War Memorial, shooting the soldier dead with a 30-30 Winchester lever action shotgun at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday.
    Later in same article

Paulson said it took just 1 minute and 20 seconds for Zehaf-Bibeau to get from the War Memorial and into the House of Parliament with his double-barreled shotgun.

I guess Joe Biden's not going to let us have our double barrel shotguns now. He'll tell us to buy a can of mace instead.

Just a thought but the magazine tube on a 94 can be pretty much flush with the muzzle so a novice might thing it's a double barrel, as in over/under.

    +1

I've heard refer to the magazine on a mossberg 590 as the "other barrel".

I had a both. .222 Remington and 12 gauge break open when i was 16-17. The gun was a 30-30 from what I've read. Not that you've ever held a gun let alone owned one in your life.

It was a HIGH POWERED ASSAULT RIFLE MILITARY SEMI-AUTOMATIC MACHINEGUN WITH THAT THING THAT GOES UP OVER THE SHOULDER loaded with COP KILLING BULLETS carried in a HIGH CAPACITY BANANA CLIP, all of which was purchased over the INTERNET using the GUNSHOW LOOPHOLE which would not have been a problem if they had UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECKS, MICROSTAMPING and BIOMETRIC LOCKS.

Of course, all this will be solved as soon as the next law is written........

You don't know your weapons, do you?

    That is clearly an AR-47.

Or wait maybe it's an AK-15?

I was wondering about the reports of 20-30 shots being fired by the terrorist, which is why I went with a .22. I think we can apply the rule that the specifics of the first reports are almost always wrong.
