This is one of those areas where you want to do careful research and really choose wisely.

For instance Turkey, not really well known for comfortable prisons. Generally speaking they are better in the western European countries, at least that's my understanding. This might be incorrect.

But from what I've heard Turkish prisons are often described as "god forsaken shit holes of the worst kind imaginable".

For some reason I think Germany, or maybe Switzerland might have reasonably nice prisons...although I freely admit I have no basis for this.

Let's see other countries that are a bit closer...Lebanon, Jordan, and Israel all border Syria as well.

Of those three I suspect that Israel probably has the nicer prisons, and they might be a bit more sympathetic towards what you are planning. Probably getting caught in those circumstances and I think in all likelihood your stay might be relatively brief (less than 10 years), followed by deportation.

Seriously, its probably not a good idea to bring your war making tools with you. Airport screeners tend to frown on that. Better to buy some locally near the war zone.
