Those two are the first ones that come to my mind as well.

Any of our Wisconsin or Ohio friends know their feeling on Common Core?

I thought Kasich was a hard-core anti. In fact, didn't the NRA support his Democratic opponent (who was it? Strickland?) against him four years ago?

I'm thinking he would be about as bad as Chris Christie in there when it comes to gun rights. But you know how the GOP leadership loves their "moderates" these days...

As of oligarchy so of tyranny, the end is wealth; (for by wealth only can the tyrant maintain either his guard or his luxury). Both mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of their arms." -- Aristotle, Book V, 350 B.C.E

He was one of the 40 or so Republicans who voted for the Crime bill, which of course included the AWB.

He did accept Obamacare fairly readily as well, at least so far as accepting the money to expand medicare in the state. He stated he wants to keep that part of Obamacare but repeal and replace the rest.

I don't think he's a hard core anti, just not a hard core pro.

To me he could get a lot of the middle, but I doubt he'd really bring out the base...a lot of people might stay home.

Walker would do better with the base, mostly on account of his fight with the teachers union. Nothing stands out as hampering him too much with moderates, but there's a lot of time left, so who knows.

He's never really been vetted on the national level, so it's tough to say what might come out.

I grudgingly voted for Kasich for governor this year. I would never support him in a presidential bid. I'd just as soon eat my own shit.

Yeah, I think you confirmed it, he isn't going to bring out the base

I wouldn't exactly call myself part of that base. The base seems to be ok with towing the party line when weak spined "moderates" are offered up. Ohio may be the home of more U.S. Presidents than any other state, but none of them have been particularly good ones. If Kasich ever became PotUS, it would serve to underline the latter statement.

Curious as to why you say this? Not the eat my own shit part, but the never support him in a pres bid part.

If you've ever listened to the man in his interviews, and looked at his record, he's no better than Obama. Supported the AWB (despite saying we should not pass gun control legislation as a knee jerk reaction to horrific events), Common Core, Obamacare, takes credit for any good thing that happens under his administration, passes the buck on any downfalls and "promises" to fix them. We need this man as president like I need a new hole to breathe out of.

I've voted for Walker 3 times now. He rejected fed dollars for expanded medicaid and helped (with all the other states that rejected same) force the fed into creating its own disastrous 0bolacare site, ended collective bargaining and forced union dues for most public unions in WI, signed concealed carry the minute a bill crossed his desk, pushed for and got the WI voter ID law, and he is pushing to remove common core in WI. With this current drubbing of the WI libtards, I'm expecting more good things to come.

I'd vote for him for POTUS, though my first choice would be Ted Cruz...

Let's vote for him then. While I DO like Ted(or Rand) better, let's get them for VP while we drag the electorate into recognizing them. America is slowing coming back, but not ready for either of the two fine Senators yet.

I've regained a slight modicum of hope from this election but the Pubs need to govern responsibly to further stifle
the liberal media and get this country back again.
Hey! Heard Dr Ben Carson was going to run. What do you think? Again. Maybe best as a VP to come up to speed
on all issues. Think he'd pull a percent or two of the black vote from Hillary? Nah. Me neither.

Same here. No way I'd vote for him.

    Yep, me too.

Regarding the O.P: Before I through support behind a candidate I have to first know what their position is on a lot of issues. I took a bit of a drubbing here on Gunsnet for sending up warning flags about Cris Crispy when so many folks were trying to draft him for president. He has a couple of conservative issues, the rest he's a straight libtard on. He's anti-2A, anti oil drilling, believes in man made global warming, and. . . well you get the idea. So before I support a person for president I have to actually know how they stand on issues.

2A supporter (a real supporter, not lip service: support national CCW, and NFA repeal, appose AWB)
fossil fuel supporter (support drilling in Anwar and off shore withing eyesight of land)
do they believe in global warming
    repeal of obamacare
support Israel (not the lip service the current occupier gives)
cutting off foreign aid to countries that work against us
    common core
    dissolving the ATF
removing policing powers from Federal regulatory agencies
stopping the mass servalance and storage by the NSA

There's more, but you get the idea. I will not put my support being a candidate just because they have an R after their name and are popular enough to win an election. Now on the flip side I recognize that there is no perfect candidate.

Rick Perry has been pilloried for the toll road idea and the HPV vaccine. He was wrong on those ideas and he has admitted to being wrong. On the toll roads, he was put on the correct path before any damage could be done. On the HPV deal he has admitted to being duped by someone that was a personal friend that he trusted. That friend pushed it because he made a LOT of money on the deal. I think Perry has actually learned from those experiences. I know he is very solid on most all issues but he is not perfect. Time will tell on who the candidates are going to be. Heck, I'd still like to see Condalise Rice throw her hat in. I don't know her stance on most issues, but I'd like to explore the idea.

I like walker, and (call me crazy) but mitch daniels might be a decent running mate...if we're talking governors only.
