    Observations

    I did some reloading this weekend. I loaded up 200 .38 specials yesterday and 400 .45acp today. I don't have the shell plate for the .38's so I loaded those on my single stage and loaded the .45's on the progressive press.

    2 observations;

    1. A progressive press is so much nice than a single stage, if you count effort per round it is much more efficient. The .38 takes 3 pulls to load a round, re-sizing and de-capping, flaring, and seating and crimping. I also have to prime them all in a separate operation. The progressive makes for one pull, one round.

    2. Whom ever decided that it was ok to make .45 acp cases with small primer pockets is an asshole.

    Yes on the Progressive or semi progressive like the Dillon 550B.

    On small primer .45 ACP, what's the headstamp? I have; Federal, Winchester, Remington and once fired Lake City brass. Never seen the .45 ACP with a small pistol primer pocket.

    Federal, and Blazer Brass (which I believe is made by federal) uses a small primer. I have been having to look at the primers before I load them into the press to segregate them. I have loaded them a few times with small pistol primers and they work fine with the same loads.

    Federal and Blazer / CCI. Humph. Almost all my .45 ACP brass dates back to 1980, even the Federals. I guess somewhere along the way they went full-retard and made them to small primer.
