Real ROBOTIC security guards already in place

I've actually SEEN these around some of the High Tech campuses of Silicon Valley. Weird...... Kinda makes Skynet more and more likely, no? I'm waiting for the GUN MOUNTED Robo cops to start patrolling. First location? Ferguson would be nice

Autonomous “Robocop”-style robots, equipped with microphones, speakers, cameras, laser scanners and sensors, have started to guard Silicon Valley.
    .....
The robots are programmed to notice unusual behavior and alert controllers. It also has odor and heat detectors, and can monitor pollution in carpets as well. Last but not least: with cameras, the Robocops can remember up to 300 number plates a minute, monitoring traffic.

True, actually there are other articles which mention that these things (though HEAVY) aren't immune to vandalism or being hit by cars or trucks. The only thing is that when they sense approaching objects, either people or vehicles, etc. they immediately start taking lots of high definition video and photos of whatever or whoever it is and stream it to the main office. As of now they're just big roaming motion detectors which call human Security personnel to any place where there is suspicious activity.

I repeat my wish that they would mount GUNS on these and send them to Ferguson, but then I digress

Something like this: http://www.wickedlasers.com/arctic from a distance would work the best.
