Why are AR kits priced the same or more than a complete rifle now?

I've been shopping kits for a while now. Right now I see kits priced higher than complete rifles.
We found out what "dealing" with progressive lefties is all about. Our side gives up something, they give up nothing and the progressives come back in a month or a year and want us to give up more... rinse and repeat...

it's how they take advantage of the incredibly cheap lower receivers.

I bought five of the Palmetto receivers when they went to $49/each... I kinda wish I had not. By the time I get kits built I could have just bought a the rifles...

http://www.del-ton.com/ar_15_kits_s/1.htm Del-Ton rifle kits. Starting $450 - $510 depending on configuration. Adding chromed bores will cost you and extra $35 usually. Hard to get a complete built rifle for $500 to $550. Then there is the aspect that you can build it using the exact parts you want vs. buying off the shelf. I'd always rather build it than buy it. I like knowing what is in the weapon's construction and ... well I just like building weapons or computers.

The Bear Creek, (never heard of them) does not have a chrome lined bore either, it states it in the add. I wouldn't be satisfied with that one either in the configuration offered. You'll have shipping and a transfer fee on this one as well. Bet you have $600 in either one once it all shakes out.

Oh, one more observation. I am on Del-Ton's email list and they had free shipping and 15% off on rifle kits for the Black Friday thing. Catch a sale.

I'm thinking about hitting that "add to cart" button myself. $400 with free shipping is hard to beat for an AR15, especially when one already has stripped lowers sitting around. And to think that some folks spent $3000 on $1000 ARs just a couple of years ago...

I'll have under $500 on each of two ARs... not bad.

Now I need a iron site or optic for them...

Should I go flip up, detachable carry handle or just get an optic?

    A red dot plus a rear flip-up.

I would look at the primary arms advanced micro dot if you're on a budget. Its a 5 year battery life micro-dot for $170 or so.
