Ohio: Repubs trying to push amendments before end of year - suppressors for hunting, CCW for military under 21, etc

A few good things that Repubs in Ohio are trying to push through before the end of the year:

    http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/only-...n-rights-bills

HB-234 - Allow the use of sound suppressors while hunting

HB-191 - Amendment to "delete an obscure provision in state law defining a semi-automatic weapon as an automatic weapon if it can fire more than 31 cartridges without reloading" (currently, magazines that hold more than 30 rounds are legal to purchase and own, but cannot be used in non-NFA firearms).

Other Amendment - "Rep. Grossman said an additional proposed amendment would pertain to the attorney general's ability to sign-off on suppressor applications."

Other Amendment - "Sen. Uecker, meanwhile, said he still intends to offer an amendment to his proposed bill that would allow active duty military members below age 21 to obtain a concealed carry permit in Ohio."

Ohio House concurs with Senate changes to HB 234; Act to be sent to Governor for consideration

    http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/ohio-...-consideration

The Ohio House concurred with Senate changes to Am. Sub HB 234 by a vote of 69 - 16.
Nice summary on what changes will be made if signed by the governor:

    http://forums.buckeyefirearms.org/vi...0&start=15#top

1 - OH recognizes all other states licenses and permits

2 - Sheriff does NICS - this should allow us to buy guns without having to get NICS every time.

    3 - Suppressor Hunting

4 - 31 round mag = Machine Gun is gone. No mag prohibitions in OH anymore

5 - Other instructors from National Gun Advocacy groups instrcutors can give OH CHL classes. Prior this was only OPOTA and NRA Certified. This means instructors certified by USCCA will be able to instruct CHL class

6 - 45 day residency requirement is gone

7 - CHL training reduced from 12 to 8 hours

8 - Provisions to allow for a portion of training to be ON LINE

9 - And the coup d'ι·tat.... Sheriffs SHALL SIGN all NFA forms presented to them that require LEO certification if the person is legally allowed to possess the items under state and federal law.

I hope it works out for the Ohio residents. That's a good list of pro 2A rights restorations.
