The Gew 98 was built in 1913.
Interarms took a bunch of them and chopped them down in the 50's.
I rebuilt it using what they fucked up. Chang-kai Chek stock too, took a few new parts and making the handguard but Im happy. Headspace is perfect.

Shoots perfect hits on silhouette at 200 are easy with yugo or turk.


C/96 , 1916 .30 Mauser , Made at the same place, Obendorf.
Have to send it out after christmas for a new barrel liner.

I have an unlimited amount of brass/bullets and strippers for it too.

Nice collection. I have a C-96 in 9mm. that came over from China in the 70's (IIRC, I bought it in the early 70's). It's in great shape. I took it to a gun show and asked a vendor who was selling them if he could tell me a little more about it. He looked at the symbol someone engraved on it and said it was the name of a person, probably a high raking Police/Military official's name. If so, that would explain why it's in such good shape. He said the Chinese had a preference for the C-96's and kept them until they switched out their issue sidearms.

I've never fired mine (a safe queen), but I clean it from time to time just so I can fondle it.
