    Top 10 Handgun makers.

Here's a list of the BATFE's top 10 manufacturers in the US for any interested.

Keep in mind this is only US production and doesn't include sales of imports from Glock or Taurus.

Not surprising. Their LCR and LCP lines are very popular in addition to their .22 pistols. Their SR-series pistols probably aren't doing bad, either.

Well, Ruger DOES produce quality, rugged handguns (I only own their revolvers) at a decent price compared to S&W. I love S&W, but their prices are very high.

Sig is what surprised me, I did not realize there was that much of a demand for them.

    +1

Wasn't even thinking about them, but yeah they are reasonably popular with LEOs and are pretty much the premier hammer-fired DA pistol.

SIG imho is the manufacturer of the highest quality mass-produced auto-pistol in the world.

When your clients include the US Secret Service, FBI, US Navy SEALS, and countless military forces & police departments around the world...that says something.

    Since I started using them for work, I have gone from 0 sig pistols to 5, 226 tac-ops, m11-a1 ( what I am issued), 1911 tac-ops, p290rs, and a m400 with sig brace

Beretta was in Maryland but the antigunners there pissed them off enough that they're leaving MD. On Sig, nice weapons but they are just a tad too proud of them. Too much money for what they are IMO.

Springfield is more of an importer than a manufacturer.

The XD line is produced in Croatia and not sure if they still are but their 1911s were assembled from parts made in Brazil.

Kinda like EAA just an importer of foreign made firearms that they sell under their brand name.

As for Sig and Beretta the US military has an American made clause for purchases, hence the production plants on US soil. FN also has US production and I suspect this maybe one of the reasons Glock has began US production, though like Taurus I suspect it also has to do with import restrictions on small handguns.
