I see tons of the new style Ruger Mini 30 with the black synthetic stock and barrel that looks like a 10-22 in stores all over the place. I've been trying to track down an old style Ruger Mini 30 ranch rifle (SS only, not blued) for a friend. But that's hard to find. Interesting that I can still find the old "pre-2005" design change Mini-14 rifles all day long. But Mini 30s are tough.

I think you are running into a situation where they might not have made a whole bunch of them in the first place. Also, the people that have them might not want to sell them. If either or both are the case, it would make them hard to find.
Why is the synthetic stock, "Lame?" Mine's synthetic and I like it.

I meant the NEW style is lame. The descriptor "synthetic stock" just refers to the fact that Ruger doesn't ship with wooden stocks any more. (it's cheaper now for them to mass produce black plastic stocks rather than wooden ones. )Originally Posted by alismith
