Wink "When there's this many bad apples, there's something wrong with the orchard."

Salman Rushdie was in rare form.

He made some interesting points about how a lot of this Islamic extremism lies straight at the feet of those Middle Eastern governments that are vying for total control of the Muslim world: Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Yemen -- they're all ostensibly our allies, but fund all these radical madrasas and extreme religious schools, where many of these future terrorists get their learning, to try to spread each particular form of extreme Islam that is most favorable to the political goals of the host government.

Indeed, if we really wanted revenge for 9/11, we would have invaded Saudi Arabia, not Afghanistan. It was no coincidence that most of the hijackers were Saudis.

(On a brighter note, if its really true that the Iranians and even Hezbollah's leader are calling these latest attacks an insult to Islam, there may be hope yet. )

"That tyranny has all the vices both of democracy and oligarchy is evident. As of oligarchy so of tyranny, the end is wealth; (for by wealth only can the tyrant maintain either his guard or his luxury). Both mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of their arms." -- Aristotle, Book V, 350 B.C.E

Muslims do not view it as a sin to lie to infidels. IMHO they are only our friends publicly when it benefits them.

IT disregards taqiyya because IT is not capable of imagining such a duplicitous practice.

Of course if IT would examine the history of IT's communist/socialist/democratic masters, IT would understand.

But then would come the wailing and gnashing of teeth as to how put upon said ideologues are, due to white privilege, or corporate masters, or some such BS...

You finally have a valid point. Saudi Arabia is the birthplace of this death cult and continues to this day to fund and teach that way. Yeah they need to be read the riot act. They know it and probably why they are beefing uop their military with the best weapons we provide.

he lays out their entire plan for the world.
"And how we burned in the camps later thinking, what would things have been like, if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain, whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?"

    That was funny.

Have you heard about the new corduroy pillows? They're making head lines!
