http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/22/us...lson.html?_r=0WASHINGTON — Justice Department lawyers will recommend that no civil rights charges be brought against the police officer who fatally shot an unarmed teenager in Ferguson, Mo., after an F.B.I. investigation found no evidence to support charges, law enforcement officials said Wednesday.
The Justice Department was not able to make a racial case out of this and could not find evidence that the police officer had acted improperly. However, still with no evidence the DOJ is investigating the Ferguson PD, just in case, I mean they need a win somewhere.
Speaking of the DOJ, they still have an open investigation against George Zimmerman (http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/...cca_story.html) even though that investigation has not turned up any evidence of wrong doing either. In Zimmerman's case I believe the government is holding some of his property (like his pistol) as evidence over 2 years after the event.
Both of these cases seem to be the government being used in a political way to try to appease a certain group of voters (or possible voters). That does not seem right to me, and it definitely seems outside the Constitutional bounds of what the DOJ should be doing.
