    New Gun Today!

I picked this beauty up today. It is a Savage Mark 2 BTVSS in .22lr. I put a Nikon 3-9 x 40 rimfire on it. I hope to have a range report this weekend.

I have been eyeing this for a while but thank davepool for inspiring me.

I have an old winchester model 69 .22lr from the 1930's and this seems much better made. I hope it shoots.

    Pretty rifle.

I can see only one fault with it (and almost all "new" rifles). They don't have any iron sights to act as a backup. (This is just a pet peeve of mine, but I won't buy a rifle that doesn't have iron sights on it. IF the scope gets knocked out of whack in the woods and you still want to hunt, with iron sights, you just remove the scope and keep hunting. Like I said, iron sights are a backup.)

But, the trend today is to make a barrel with no sights and let the buyer worry about what he wants to put on it.

Oh well, that is still a pretty rifle. Savage makes a good gun and it should last a couple of lifetimes....

    Beautiful stock.

Nice-looking rifle, you will have fun with it. The Savage .22 bolt-actions are a joy to shoot and are very accurate. I got into .22 bolt-actions once .22LR disappeared so I don't blast through my stash with the semi-autos. They are definitely ammo-savers, unless you pull an all-dayer at the range.

Been waiting for this thread, nice rifle. What ammo you going to shoot?

If you have a digital scale, try weighing the rounds like i did with the cheapo blazer ammo. I fired a control group of randomly picked ammo from the same box and the shots were spread out over 1 1/2" so maybe weighing them worked somewhat, need to do a little more experimenting before i call it worth the time to weigh each round

Crank that accutrigger down as low as it will go ( just till you meet some resistance) and enjoy. I got a .17 caliber jag and rod to clean mine, easier to get a patch down the bore and avoid scraping the rifling.

Check out this, he's shooting your rifle at 344 yards
