Actually it was a false story, allowed to stand unquestioned for 12 years, from NBC. And it was not done by some low level reporter but by the anchor, again, just like with Dan Rather. He makes it sound like he made a mistake. He did not make a mistake, he made a decision to lie about his experiences hoping for better ratings. There had to be a bunch of people who knew the story was false and yet it took 12 years for him to be called on the carpet. Seems like he had help keeping this quiet. I think he should be removed from his anchor position and not be allowed to report anymore. Considering his position this is huge. Not just a simple mistake, but an action that brings all his reporting into question.
