can't smell or taste.....

Since back in Jan 20 when I posted that I was sick I haven't been able to taste or smell since. Its been over a month.

My smell level is at a .5 from a scale 1-10. Taste is non existent BUT I can taste whipped cream for some reason.
The sense of smell is all screwed up. I have some mints that when smelled doesn't smell like mint but I can smell a cheep sugary candy like smell.
I can smell garlic powder if I stick my nose right in to the container but its muted a lot.

I keep getting random smells that don't "go" to anything. For several hours a few days ago all I could smell was cigarette smoke as I sat on the couch, no one smokes in my family.
Its never a good smell either its always something bad smelling, its never like MMM cake.

I keep blowing my noise but never get the senses back.
Is there something else that I can do? Nobody mention a Netty Kettle!!!!!!!
I have never gone this long before.

I know that a buddy of mine had dizziness spells and when he said he couldn't smell, they gave him a ct-scan to check for mini stroke. Snort some warm salt water.

This. I got my sense of smell and taste screwed up in 2000 from using Zicam nasal spray stuff. My symptoms were very similar to yours Bishop. Though maybe not quite as vacant of smelling. Instead many things smelled revolting. Auto exhaust smelled like a really bad sour piss filled urinal. I couldn't stand the smell or taste of chocolate. That eventually recovered. Garlic and Onions I could barely make out. Those recovered as well in time. One thing that did not was my ability to like the taste of Coca-Cola. I drank it almost 100% of the time before that incident. Since then Seven UP, Sprite, Mt. Dew or Root Beer is all I can stand. Coke still tastes like shit to this very day. I can't describe it other than to say it is vile.

I think that I am simply compacted or just congested.
I am a child sometimes and don't lie to blow my nose. So the whole time I was sniffing it back in. So everything is compacted.
I can breathe completely fine unhindered.

I don't use nasal sprays (gross).

Every day its becoming more and more a hassle to eat.
I am always hungry because there is no choice in snacking or I don't want to "waste" my food on not being able to taste it.

I told the wife that if this keeps up I'll just move from eating to just drinking Ensure for all my meals. For added protein I'll throw in some tuna.
Last week I was hungry and since I can't taste I opened one of my lifeboat rations. Those things are 450 calories per bar and the taste is boring and it gets old fast. It filled me up and I didn't have to taste it. Glad I didn't throw them away after trying to eat the first bar.

3 weeks ago her parents took us out the our favorite steak place. I ate only the unbuttered rolls and drank water. Why waste the $$ on me.

Any chance you may have hurt your neck a bit while sneezing? I know I have had some pretty violent (multiple) sneezes when I got a rally bad cold and tweaked my neck.
It is possible to obstruct the nerves with an injured neck and a Chiropractor could help...just throwing that out there.

BTW...did you try a Nettie pot with sea salt? They are amazing...lol

Go see a doc. Your nasal and/or sinus cavity probably has a wad of hardened mucus deep within.
