Question Who Said It: Adam Smith or Karl Marx?

    http://money.howstuffworks.com/adam-...-marx-quiz.htm

I only got 7 out of 10. Missed the Aristotle one, the "poor and miserable" one, and the last (fiat money) one.

Makes you wonder what Adam Smith would have thought about communism, had he come decades after Marx instead of the other way around.

"That tyranny has all the vices both of democracy and oligarchy is evident. As of oligarchy so of tyranny, the end is wealth; (for by wealth only can the tyrant maintain either his guard or his luxury). Both mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of their arms." -- Aristotle, Book V, 350 B.C.E

Don't worry what Adam Smith would have thought. We are here today and you know what we think of you and your marxist values.
No enemy of America would have ever been killed if they didn't show up to be killed. HDR

You mean my Smithsonian values? In many ways, Smith was more of a socialist than even Marx.

    Name one time Socialism worked...
We found out what "dealing" with progressive lefties is all about. Our side gives up something, they give up nothing and the progressives come back in a month or a year and want us to give up more... rinse and repeat...

It seems to be working quite well for the folks in northern Europe right now.

But the point is, even Adam Smith -- the godfather of capitalism himself -- was quite critical of many of its tenets.

Even he realized that capitalism, if left unchecked to its own devices, would naturally gravitate toward crony (monopoly) capitalism where the banksters and the big finance plutocrats would be running everything and dictating government policy to further their own ends.

That's why Karl Marx drew so heavily on his writings when authoring Das Kapital, his magnum opus masterpiece critique of the capitalist system.

No it isn't. They are finally getting a taste of what it's like to have a permanent underclass that drains the system, contributes nothing, and commits high levels of violent crime.

During my last stint in Afghanistan, I knew a Swedish Air Force Captain who said that he had never understood American resistance to socialist ideas until recently. Previously he had viewed his high taxes as fair payment for a good level of quality services, and didn't understand why we didn't want the same. With the influx of muslims, he came to understand. Now he despises his level of taxation, hates the fact that his services aren't as good anymore because there is more demand from those who don't contribute, hates the fact that others don't contribute their fair share, hates the spike in crime, and wants the damned muslims to go home. Now he understands that socialism doesn't work, and why it doesn't work.
If I had a dollar for every time CAPITALISM was blamed for problems caused by the GOVERNMENT, I'd be a fat filmmaker with a baseball cap.

12 string guitars only have 6 extra strings, but they're 85 TIMES as likely to be used in a song about wizards.

I got the model from Bandai.

Spot on. Socialism doesn't work as it runs out of money to steal from people that work to give to lazy scum that stand there with their hand's out.
