All that matters is that the people reading this thread know all the arguments and can make up their own minds.

That's my only goal here, and despite all your obfuscation, I'm pretty confident I succeeded.
Interesting perspective because this is the exact same motive I have when you post BS regarding Christianity.
So in essence, you are preaching your deeply held religious beliefs.

The only difference is you believe MAN is in control and has the ability to change the ebb and flow of planet earth through litigation. I prefer not to be so arrogant.

    Here's the thing-
You present an opinion, a position on something. You wish to convince someone your opinion is valid and correct. It is on YOU to present convincing evidence of your opinion. If you do not, you will not be taken seriously.
Telling someone to go convince themselves of YOUR opinion (especially in opposition to their own opinion) is pretty unlikely to win people over.

    Don't know why I bother.....

I'm well-aware that subsidence may be playing a role in Venice slowly sinking, but what evidence do you have that it is principally at play down in Florida?

A cursory search of the topic only mentions certain coastal areas of Texas and Louisiana (and the Mississippi River delta in particular) but I gather that has more to do with hurricanes, storm surges, erosion, and human activity that has caused such subsidence in those particular areas.

Do you have any scientific evidence that this is the case in Miami, let alone that ancient ice sheets are responsible?
Nothing to show right now. I learned about this in an ELAB (Environmental Literacy and Animal Behavior) class I took, at the local University, this past fall. The Professor who presented it, was explaining why the east coast of the US, and our area, appeared to be sinking. When I see him next, I'll ask for info and web links and forward them to you.

LAGC, here's some info I found on the topic I was talking about. There's a few other things I left out that explains how subsidence works in different areas.

    http://www.livescience.com/24647-eas...elerating.html

http://www.livescience.com/21158-sea...ast-coast.html (This one shows the subsidence "hot spots" along the East Coast. Key West FL is located very close to Miami.)

    http://hamptonroads.com/2012/06/sea-...hen-rest-globe

http://www.texastribune.org/2013/12/...-consequences/ (This one deals with ground water pumping and any place that is heavily populated usually has some degree of subsidence. This would be more noticeable along coastal areas i.e. Miami.)

http://www.twdb.texas.gov/publicatio.../R272/R272.pdf (This one adds in the effects of pulling oil and natural gas out of the ground, too.)

In one of the articles, above, it mentions that the Gulf Stream current is slowing down and allowing more water to stay in certain places, causing a buildup of water levels in nearby areas. Notice where Miami is located in relation to the Gulf Stream.

I'm perfectly open to considering viable alternative hypotheses to rising sea levels being the principal cause of increased flooding in Florida and other coastal areas around the world.

But a bunch of right-wing opinion blogs circle-jerk linking to each other with wild "explanations" aren't going to cut it.

To me it all boils down to: show me some scientific studies (or at least some advisements or data from a scientific body) or STFU.

    Or opinion.
Lacking pure experimental data showing causation he will defer to the opinion he prefers.....and call it science.
