If you ever get a chance read the book about how those cars came to be in america, pretty funny story, the guy who started the company was basically a con-man.

to me, an accord says "I hate buying gas, or constantly fixing a car"

gotta admit, they really aren't a bad value.

    no...I don't drive one...nor does the wife.

That is manly, but you need to add a little "bling":

What babe wouldn't want a little firepower to help clear traffic on those trips to the grocery store

    Thumbs up

I wanted to go the other way, on this Thread, Next Month I will be 59. I am glad I was old enough to see them on the Road! The Javelin on Steroids The beautiful American Motors Corp. AMX! How many of you saw, rode in or owned an AMX? They are so hard to find today! What a Hell of a Car! They had I was told once, a 400 Block V8 in them.(make that a 396) We all know AMC went Bye Bye in 1986. I have not even seen an AMX at a Car Show! Have any of you? I rode in a 1968 Once. I remember 3 Things about it. 1. No Back Seat. 2. Serial Number on the Dashboard. 3. It was Purple! Made from 1968 to 1970 only!

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Have you heard about the new corduroy pillows? They're making head lines!

I wanted an AMX, but couldn't afford it. It was officially a sports car, wheelbase under 100 inches. Shirley Shahan, the Drag-on-Lady raced one in Pro Stock in the old AHRA.

I did have a 1969 Hurst/SC Rambler, basically a Rambler American with a 390 CI engine, borg warner T-10 4 speed with hurst shifter, 4:10 posi rearend. Mine ran 13.40s stock, got it down to the low 12s consistently with a few mods, and ran a few high 11s. The engine looked more like a small block chevy than ford 390, had the same head design as the chevy.
I ran mine in the 1971 AHRA winternationals at Beeline dragway near phoenix, won my class with a 12.01 against a 428 ford fairlane, he was faster than me all week, but missed a shift into third gear in the final sunday morning

Got to meet Linda Vaughan " Miss Hurst", big thrill for a punk kid.
