Can't argue with Marlin's quality. They build good guns. Nice looking gun in that link.

Marlin has been known for having top notch quality at very reasonable prices.

That should be one fine rifle!

Recon - I bought one two years ago but have had little opportunity to shoot it more than to get the scope "sighted in".
As my glasses all but preclude the use of iron sights, I put a 3-9x scope called "Rimfire by Burris" on it. It shoots better than my 10/22 @ 100 yds and I can hit a 8" paper plate @150 yds - good enough for groundhogs and other varmits and at a greater range.

    Enjoy!

    p.s.
Around here, it is easier to find .22 Mag ammo than LR and not much more expensive ($0.12 vs. $0.10 per round).

Thanks! Right now at least in my area .22 mag and .22lr are hard to find anywhere.

I would think it means this round has powder designed to burn in a handgun (short barrel). The short handgun barrel doesn't allow much time to accelerate the bullet. Counter to that a rifle barrel (16+ inches) provides more time to burn all the powder and accelerate the bullet. This is why there are Pistol grade powders vs. Rifle grade powders.
