Police Oppose Gun Control, Support Armed Citizens

Survey says: Most cops believe gun control harms their mission.

We are all too familiar with the opposition to private firearms ownership and public attacks made on it. Far too often, some police chief or sheriff will stand up in front of cameras and denounce gun ownership, so-called assault weapons, standard-capacity magazines, or whatever the current hot-button gun control issue may be. This gives the impression that police are in favor of gun control and against private gun ownership.

According to a 2013 survey by PoliceOne, nothing could be further from the truth.

They have gun collections too. Restrictions on us would be restrictions on them as well.

Well, there's that and the fact that most of the scumbags with guns that we deal with are recidivist felonious assholes that don't give a shit about gun laws anyway.

That's only partly true. I asked a friend of mine,a retired Deputy Sheriff, if he were allowed to obtain a MD CCW and he said he didn't need one. When he retired from the police force, he was given a Retired Policeman's card and that allowed him to carry concealed anywhere. Non-police MD citizens are denied that right. (Don't know if that policy works only in MD, or if it's nationwide.)

Other than that, they're just like the rest of us rights-denied MD peasants.

In MD, only police and criminals are allowed to carry concealed.

Good reasons to not live in Maryland then. In Georgia it will cost less than $90 bucks to get your CCW, no special needs to demonstrate a need for it, just go and get the application and follow the steps required on the paperwork. 2 or 3 months you'll have it in the mail.

    Thumbs down

I don't know why Chief's and Sherriff's Feel Safe in their Headquarters? and go on trashing our Rights. Perhaps it is because they are appointed, or Elected. Remember The 1978 Movie, PCT. 13? Where will they go when the whole Police Station is attacked, like in Terminator. Sort of like the old Arm Chair General's. Too long out of Combat. There are rarely out on the Line, unless they have the right Character to begin with and just turned into a Politician in Uniform.
