    Picked up a S&W 64-6

Bought a 64-6 with a 3" barrel today. Got the gun, two speed loaders and a rug for $320. Seemed like a decent deal. I'll try to post pics soon.

You got hair with it? What's a rug?
What is the calibre? 320$ sounds like a good
price for a revolver. I have noticed they tend
to be high dollar for some brands.
While no one ever listens to me,
I am constantly being told to be quiet.

Is that the pistol you are holding in your avatar? Did you get the guitar with the deal or just the rug?

Actually, sounds pretty good. Can't wait for a picture.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

The 64 is a .38 spl. the 66 was a .357 mag. A rug is a reference to a soft side pistol / handgun case that zips up ... or so it is in my vocabulary.

I ran across the picture on the web. Since it made me laugh, I had to make it my avatar and share it with all of you.

I've been looking for one , but I know I'd never find one at that price around here.

That's why I like my 13-4 with it's 3" barrel . Easy to carry with a jacket , but that 1" more to the barrel actually makes it easy to shoot too. the only full power .357 it sees is the critical defense I carry in it, rest is all wadcutters.

I did see a new 5" Ruger super redhawk in .45LC the other day... but the near $900 point about made me choke.

That was pretty much my thoughts as well HK. I bought it primarily as a carry gun for outdoors, fishing, hiking, etc. It can also do duty as my truck gun and cc in a pinch. I would have preferred 357, but as you say about the only time it would see hi vel loads is when I am carrying cc. I like the idea of that extra inch in barrel length, although I have told my wife for years that it's not length but girth that matters.

I tried looking up the gun on gunbroker. There weren't too many out there, no 3 inch at all. The ones there ranged from $425 to $600.

The 64-6 came out in 1998 and was the last model before the internal lock came out with the 64-7 in 2002 so your particular engineering change covers a fairly short period of time.

Do you think that may be why I'm not getting contacted?

I agree. The first handgun I ever shot was a S&W 67. It was my father's and he gave it to me when I was 14. My son now has it. I am very partial to wheelguns and S&W in particular. I do have auto pistols, but could never totally give up my revolvers.
