I'm disappointed by the lack of a side rail.

Once they correct this issue and demonstrate their quality level, this gun will become very desirable to me.

I need an SC made AK!

Yes and no about the side rail. I've had difficulty in getting scope / sight bases to not shake lose on Romanian AK variants. Then there is the issue of getting one that is over bore center. I think I'd rather have one of those replaces the rear sight pic railed top covers that bolts to the rear trunnion tang.

Modern optics mounts such as the RS Regulate have fixed a lot of the issues associated with AK side rails.

You can even get a lower 1/3 cowitness with an aimpoint using the RS Regulate mount. Plus it has quick disconnect and return to zero capabilty, and you can adjust the placement of the optic over the bore and stake it in place (or loc-tite a bolt).

My local PSA store front had one or more in stock today. I may go inspect one for shits and giggles if its still there tomorrow.

I know many will disagree but I actually like that Magpul furniture. I wonder if it would fit a Robarms VEPR...?

Agreed, especially the long Zukhof (sp?) handguard. Much more surface area to hold. Plus the folding stock with adjustable LOP looks like a winner, though I'm not a fan of the plastic hinge on it.

I would probably avoid the folder. It does look nice though.

I had one of the Crapco folding AK stocks with a plastic hinge when they first came out. Needless to say it broke in short order. I have noticed that they switched to metal-reinforced hinges.

The hinge should be strong while in the open position but weak when folded.

    Check it out:

I think I may go with the Bonesteel Galil style folder for my VEPR. Basically plug n play. No tang removal and no slant cut adapter needed.

    Or maybe the CNC Warrior

^^^^ That should be good to go.

Also if you want to go tactical you could put a folding AR adapter and a magpul or battlelink stock or whatever.
