After today, it's all historical.
If they are going to blame the lack of a manual safety, they should have bought the version that comes with one.
Manual safeties and magazine safeties are both available from S&W.
"I'm fucking furious, I'm violently angry, and I like it. If you don't know what that feels like then I feel bad for you"
Sounds like a training issue. Kinda hard to have an ND if you keep your finger off the trigger unless ready to shoot kinda hard to accidentally shoot someone if you never point gun at something you don't intend to destroy. IMHO sounds like they switched platforms with minimal or no training. But must have an issue with finger on trigger
Yep, lighter smoother trigger pull gets recruits better scores during qualification but in an adrenaline pumped situation they're shooting when they don't intend to. Finger off the trigger is the answer or will S&W come up with their own version of the Glock "New York" trigger to nearly double the trigger pull?
Trying to recall where my trigger finger is supposed to be when not going to shoot. In nose? No. Up ass? no. Let me see, where did Fienswine put it?
Gee, didn't they used to issue revolvers? I know the DA on a revolver is a longer pull but neither one will go off if you keep your finger off the trigger, safety or not.

Can't blame the gun. One big rule is KEEP YER DAMN FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER. If the cops want to play "Hollywood style" with their index finger wrapped around the trigger, they get what they deserve.
Besides, nobody is supposed to trust the safety. It's a mechanical device that can fail.
Whenever someone doubts me, I ask them "How about this? I chamber a round, engage the safety, point at your head and pull the trigger? Do you trust it now?".
The answer is always a shocked "Well.... no.... of course not...."
It makes a much bigger impression than just saying "don't trust the safety".

Basically it was designed to give the glock a heavier trigger to more closely resemble the trigger pull of a revolver for the NYPD
Once again blaming the poor innocent firearm because idiots can't keep their fingers off the triggers.
