Anyone Else Doing Some Shooting This Weekend?

I got off work early today and went to the NRA Range. First, I have to say they do try to remove all the fun out of shooting there. It is a great set up but you have to set the target at the right height or they get after you. I have never set my target at the right height the first try yet.

Anyway, I took out my new G26 and my G19. I was very pleased with the G26. Well, it did fail to feed the first three mags I put through it and then it stopped doing that. I was using the same ammo so I think it just needed a little break in. Here are some of the targets from today.

    G26 at 5 yards

    G26 at 7 yards

    G19 at 10 yards

    G19 at 13 yards

    G19 at 15 yards

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Sounds like you might have more fun than I did!

Looks like that will kill something with that baby Glock. I was thinking about going Friday, our company lets us off tomorrow given that the 4th is on Saturday. Don't know if I will.

Yeah, those groups are good. Whatever you shoot at, you'll hit.

Thanks. Grump and Sheutz gave me a lot of hints when we were doing some competitions, that and practice are sure paying off. I still need to get better. If I don't concentrate the rounds fly a little wide, as you can see.

I'm taking my wife out tomorrow to shoot her new gun. I bought her a Taurus PT 709S at cabellas last week. My decision was based primarily on the tests of 10 compact single stack 9mms in july's Guns and Ammo. The Taurus went through 1000 rounds with zero malfunctions, was the least expensive of the lot and shot the best 25 yard group ( 1.18") of all ten after 650 rounds.
She likes it a lot, fits her smaller hands perfectly, the weight is right, trigger pull is OK and after i dremeled off the sharp edges of the trigger guard she says it is very comfortable for to hold.
I picked up 5 boxes of different manufacturers 9mm 115grn, 124grn and 147grn ammo, and i plan on doing my own 250 rnd. fucntion test. I'll post the targets.

She's fired my old Ruger P94DC 9mm a lot but it's too big and heavy for her, so hopefully this gun will be something she can master....and it fits in the side pocket inside her purse

Sounds nice. I'll be interested to see your follow up result post.

On the tread topic, no joy on shooting today. Rained like a waterfall coming down until maybe 1 hour ago. Very soggy out there.

You would have been most welcome. Hard to see but the CAI C39 next to the Yugo underfolder was an absolute blast. Its a USA made milled receiver AK pistol. Lots of fun but not very practical. Maybe with one of those arm braces it would make more sense. I'm unclear as to whether you can legally shoulder those or not. It seems to have gone back and forth at ATF. Some uncertainty about a part being legal while a shooting position is illegal.

Anyway we had a riot exercising our 1st, 2nd and 21st amendment rights. Managed to blow up some half pound jars of tannerite, too. LOL.
