    Mag Release Question

My new G26 is a gen4 pistol. One of the differences with this pistol and earlier Glocks is you can change the mag release to be left handed. What I am wondering is if I should change the mag release to be left handed. I was ready to do it but then started thinking about my other handguns. They are all right hand release and I started thinking that I could make it harder for me to operate the G26, especially in an emergency, if I move the mag release to be different from every other gun I have. What do you guys think, should I switch it or not?

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Have you heard about the new corduroy pillows? They're making head lines!

I say no to switching it. If that one was your only handgun I would say sure go ahead. But your point IMO is valid, you will screw up your muscle memory for operating other weapons.

I agree with what you are already thinking and what Schuetz said, in a stress situation you do not want to have to think about
    which handgun you are carrying.

Thanks. I wanted to make sure I wasn't thinking about this wrong.

An advantage for left handers having a right hand mag release is that it's actually faster to use.
All you have to do is use your trigger finger to press the release.
This takes your finger off the trigger, and you don't have to shift your grip to get to the release.

This also works for some guns that have the slide release toward the front, like the 1911. The Glock may be to far to the rear to use the trigger finger.
Jeff Cooper once had a custom built auto with the releases on the right side so he could use his trigger finger to operate them.
