Maine got them legalized about 5 year ago.
This weekend some idiot killed himself (by moron accident) by placing a mortor type on his head.

So now the news headlines are calling for banning them again.

This idiot failed to follow the directions..... do not hold in hand.

Pa. could ease restrictions on fireworks, reaping big bang in taxes

I read about this on CBC. At least the stupid shit won't be able to contaminate the gene pool. He should be nominated for the Darwin Awards site.

Brings me to another thought as to how Firecrackers became banned in Canada.

In the mid 1970's two kids were tenting in their parents yard and lit their tent on fire with cigarettes. In order to not get in trouble for smoking they lied and said their firecrackers lit the tent. The media got ahold of it and by the time the whirlwind slowed down it was too late. The politicians were already drafting legislation and firecrackers were doomed.

Banned over a kids lie. Never to be given back.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Put a Mortar on his head ... yep Darwin Award winner right there.

GA just got the rights to purchase the big booming toys this year. I don't think anybody here managed to kill themselves.

They are illegal here in WV, but, as I have proven many times....I have never been in trouble for lighting them off. The first year that we did a pretty big show. We were walking the dogs the next day. We went past the Chief of Police house. He said, Hey Paul. Come here. Wife says, boy are you going to get it!

Chief brings me over, says....Nice fireworks...!

I always drive across state lines to buy my fireworks and bring them back home. I live out in the sticks in PA, and many people around me shoot the good stuff every year. It would make things a lot more convenient if I could buy them and shoot them here legally, but if there's a high tax on them; I'll still go to Ohio. I also take advantage of Ohio's gas prices too. PA's gas tax is outrageous.

They've always been legal here to my knowledge, though they are illegal in the city limits. I don't buy them anymore and for the most part don't mind them as long as they're not still going off at 1:00 in the morning. As I said they are against city ordinance, but kids, ect, ect......
