    Tump on McCain

There has been a couple of threads on Mr. Trump's candidacy. In the last day or so he was questioned about Senator McCain and had some interesting things to say his war record. I think a big deal is being made out of nothing but I also think Mr. Trump was not very smart in even commenting on this.

“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said. Sarcastically, Trump quipped, “He’s a war hero because he was captured.” Then, he added, “I like people that weren’t captured.”

AMES, Iowa — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump criticized Sen. John McCain’s military record at a conservative forum Saturday, saying the party’s 2008 nominee and former prisoner of war was a “war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

The comment drew some boos from some in the audience — and quick condemnation from rivals who have been waiting for such an opening to rein in the outspoken reality television personality. Trump has surged in polls recently, frustrating many in his party concerned that he has hijacked the 2016 Republican primary and damaged the GOP brand.

Trump and McCain traded barbs earlier this week. McCain said Trump’s controversial comments about immigrants and had “fired up the crazies” at a rally in Phoenix. Trump retorted that the Arizona Republican was “a dummy” who graduated at the bottom of his class at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Seems more like a school yard name calling contest, pretty obvious trump's not going to take any shit from the good old boys of the republican royalty

I agree with Trump, he wasn't a particularly good warrior, and only has the sympathy of being a POW.

It's kinda like the guy who gets a Purple Heart. People who see the PH think of him being WIA...but the guy who was next to him only missed being wounded by a half-inch, and went on to have 8 more months of combat, ambushes, firefights, motar attacks. He was lucky enough not to get wounded, and saw a lot more combat. Yet, put the two together and the guy wounded after only 3 months incountry is perceived to have give more for his country.

McCain was a POW, and nothing more.

I will give the Rino McCain a big thank you for flying an A-4 off the flight deck of a carrier I believe 24 times, but many others did as well. Being a POW does not make a person a hero.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of McCain, saying that you prefer non-captured veterans to captured veterans is an extreme dick move. Captured doesn't mean that the soldier is a fuck up or that they deserve less respect.

Besides that, didn't McCain refuse to go home without his comrades even though they tortured his private parts?

Plenty of people have served in a theater of war who are not complicit in the loss of my rights and the waste of my money, fuck McCain.

I understand Trump's statement. Was it smart thing to say, not so much. Not a McCain fanboy here. I think he's a RINO to the core and part of the problem in our government.

Our society has perverted the definition of "hero" to include simply being a "survivor". I long ago tired of any "survivor" that's the subject of a news report being referred to as a "hero" just because they survived. Trump has it right on this. McCain is NOT a hero just because he survived as a POW.

I bet if you ask any former POW if they are a "hero" none of them would say that they are. In fact, I can see Trump and McCain on an interview with Trump butting in and asking "Mr. McCain, are you a "hero" sir?"

That is such a dumb thing for Trump to say. It makes me wonder about him. You would expect him to be more calculating.

Today's brave Americans get their cocks chopped off and take hormones to grow tits. But to the topic... there is much to dislike about McStain without attacking his service record. Trump erred on this one.

What the GOPe and the media don't seem to be able to grasp is that the Trump phenomena isn't really about Trump, its about the middle class base being fed up with business as usual. We're getting fucked over at every turn and the establishment doesn't give a damn.

Boehner and McConnell are both big proponents of open borders and trade deals that hurt American workers. We were told that if we put the GOPe in charge of congress that Obamacare would be killed, spending curtailed and the economy would be a priority. None of that has happened. Hussein and his destroy America agenda are still in operation and look to be gathering steam.

All of the criminals at the IRS, NSA, ect are still free crushing whomever gets in their way. This country is a disaster and things are getting worse by the day, and the fucking RINO's are just as responsible as the commie Democrats.

Correct, but his actions as a POW earned him a Silver Star. That is more than being a survivor, but different from being a hero in battle.

The Weekly Standard, National Review, Wall street Journal, ect, are mouth pieces of the Country Club Republicans and the big banks. They aren't conservatives. They love "made in China" and want illegals to mow their grass and clean their houses. These are the people who love bailouts and do absolutely nothing to stop the Hussein agenda. As long as they get their piece of the pie, they could give a shit about the dyeing middle class.

I agree but then there's the problem of his behavior the day of the massive fire aboard his carrier - in which he is implicated for "wet starting" his jet - causing a huge flame to shoot out (something that hot dogs did a lot then) and this causing a missile to cook off - starting the whole incident and ending in some 20+ sailors and pilots being killed. He was transferred to another ship right after this (only one who was) - his Dad was an Admiral at the time - in charge of a good portion of the naval forces.

All of this aside, I have a huge problem with many things that he's done and supported while a Senator. I was really bummed when he got the nomination back in 2007 - but I voted for him anyway - anything but Barry... for reasons that have been proven out in the last 6.5 years.
