    Rowdy’ Roddy Piper, Wrestling Legend, Dead at 61

    I never was a huge Wrestling fan, but I did see the movie They Live in the theaters. Looks like he is all out of bubble gum.

    Heard it on the radio tonight driving to get some take-out. Didn't say what he died from so the link was valuable in filling in my questions. Hard to believe he is only 2 years older than me.

    Greatest professional wrestler of all time. No one could generate heat like Piper. I loved it when he:

    1. Promised to play the Mexican National Anthem on bagpipes and then played La Cucaracha;
    2. Smashed Jimmy Superfly Snuka on the head with a Coconut and shoved a Banana in his mouth;
    3. Whipped Mr. T with a belt.

    My favorite Piper quote was when he said "They Live" was a documentary - which I believe in fact it was, although the aliens were somewhat of a metaphor.

    Not a wrestling fan, but I did know of he through his other works, like They live and Saints Row 4. He seemed like a good guy, and it is depressing that he passed so young. May he rest in peace and no more earthly troubles worry him.

    Not trying to start a fuss here, I liked Piper, but I wonder if he seemed so young because we are that old.
    I'm 58.
    While no one ever listens to me,
    I am constantly being told to be quiet.

    Let's see. Aliens controlling the media. Aliens controlling the banking sector. Aliens controlling government. Smearing people who know the truth as being 'anarchists' 'terrorists' or worse..... Government attacking a group of folks who are armed.... It was scary stuff because it was so plausible (not so much aliens but 'evil forces' aka libtards) .....

    Yep it was very metaphorical. Back in the 1980's it seemed like fiction, (aliens aside) but today it seems spot on for our PC thought police society.

    A lot like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" back in the 50's

    "one of the most multifaceted horror films ever made",.........."simultaneously exploiting the contemporary fear of infiltration by undesirable elements as well as a burgeoning concern over homeland totalitarianism
