    Possible x39 steel core score

I think we all know that mild steel core ammo isn't really "armor piercing", but having banned ammunition is always a nice novelty (and it seems expensive when you can find it). I came accross 30 rounds on stripper clips wrapped in brown paper and tied with string for $10. Figured the price wasn't terrible, so I bought it. Copper colored bullets and cases with red sealant indicate that it's Chinese. After opening I checked the head stamp. Top number is 311 (the factory) and the bottom # is 67 (1967) which tells me I have the "good" (and corrosive) stuff. Am I wrong? Also bought a steel flat back double stack 5 round chinese mag for $8, not too bad considering I hardly see them pop up, and never see them for that price. Local buy/ sell/ trade gun stores always seem to have some hidden gems.

    Good find.

I found a unopened spam can, also Chinese at a gun store 3 years ago. I can't remember the price but I do remember that it was much lower than it should have been. They also didn't know how many rds were in the can (550 BTW).

I knew what it was because its what I used to buy back in the late 80s.

You are correct it is corrosive primed. Norinco steel core with 1990 headstamps in commercial boxes was / is noncorrosive.

So I'm sittin' on $60 loaded in a magazine right now huh? Maybe I'll just flip it for profit. Seriously though, having what they don't want me to have is neat and all, but not $2 per round neat!

Anybody ever do penetration tests with that stuff? It can't be much better than M855.

    Or am I wrong?
