    A government sale you'll LIKE!!!!

The upcoming National Defense Authorization Act that passed committee includes a plan to transfer the U.S. Army’s remaining stock of .45 ACP 1911A1 pistols to the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

Added as an amendment by Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Alabama, while the NDAA was in debate in the House Armed Service Committee, it could see potentially the largest remaining stock of military surplus World War II-era handguns in government hands sold to the public.

“As a gun owner and strong believer in the Second Amendment, my proposal is a common-sense approach to eliminating an unnecessary cost to the Federal government while allowing the very capable CMP to handle the sale of these vintage firearms that otherwise would just sit in storage,” Rogers said in a statement.

Hope it doesn't get cut out as it goes to the whole Congress! I am saving up for one if it comes to pass.

I can't believe how $$$ GI surplus 1911's have gotten over the last decade or so. I was looking at an original WWI Colt a few years ago & the shop owner was asking a grand. Guess I shoulda grabbed that one.

I'd like to get an older M1911 in addition to this 1911A1:

Somewhere I saw a statement from the Obama administration words in effect: "We will never allow these deadly weapons to be sold where they could possibly be used to commit violent crimes".
It seemed to indicate that they intend to destroy all of them.

As some of you may remember, this is what the Clinton administration attempted to do with all the old M1 rifles and .22 Target rifles that were being returned to the Army.
Congress passed a law stopping the destruction, but not before a lot of the M1's and almost all of the .22 rifles were run through "Captain Crunch".

I remember our old gun club was a DCM affiliated club and we had about 15 M1 rifles, 20 Remington 513T .22's, and a couple each of Winchester Model 52 and Remington 40X 22's.
    All of them were destroyed.

For a time Shotgun News had a number of ads selling the .22 rifle stocks. Everything else, including the Match sights were destroyed.

Given the totally lawless behavior of the Obama administration, even if congress passes a law stopping any destruction and possible sales, they'll no doubt just destroy them anyhow, if in effect they haven't already started.
