I read some fruitcake Leftist media take on this.
The "defense" was that so the punks dad LOOKS white, he "might" be multi racial which means the punk can make the claim.

As for his being attacked and beaten to a bloody pulp by a gang of rednecks, the police report said that it was a one-on-one fight and the punks injuries were minor.
The "defense" is that the police report could be wrong and the account that this was no redneck gang attack was based on the word of a veteran detective who "can't be expected to remember something from 20 years ago".
However, the word of ONE supposed witness from 20 years ago is to be considered to be more accurate.
The witness had the school floor awash in the blood of the poor punk.

The key here is the extremely evasive way the punk avoids tough questions and his refusal to meet with people who'd like to ask tough questions. Anyone who asks questions on the sites the punk belongs to get banned instantly.
