    Thumbs up Savage model 99

Anyone have a Savage 99 and care to post some pictures? There's a thread on another forum about lever action rifles and a lot of the pictures posted are of the Savage 99. I'm really liking the way this gun looks. Was just wondering if anyone here has one, what they think about it and if they have any photos you can share. I'm thinking about looking for one. I wouldn't use it for hunting but I wouldn't mind something to take to the range.

I buddy of mine had one. I really liked it, and I've been kicking around getting one myself for years.

This was the rifle of choice for Roy Chapman Andrews. He carried it on many of his expeditions around the world.

I've been looking for one in .308. Missed out on one two years ago.

I have my late grandfather's Savage 99 in .300 Savage. He bought it new in the 1930s and took deer with it. Next time I'm in the safe I will post up some pics!

IIRC a distant relative had one in .308 and liked it well enough. Seems like this is the platform Savage used back in the day to introduce some of their new chamberings such as .250-3000 and the .303 Savage. I believe they even made a takedown version but I've never seen one in person.

A friend of mine received one when his father died. It was in .308 I refinished the wood on it for him. It ia very beautiful and accurate rifle. He killed 2 8 points with it last year.

i have one that was my fathers in 308. still remember buying it with him at the gun show in benton. it was one he had always wanted in his collection, they are well put together, but ive never really fondled it much to gain an opinion on it one way or the other. hen it comes to leverguns im fond of the marlin 336, mostly because that was the gun i saarted hunting with as a child.
