    I don't disagree with the sentiment but I think this is less about the politicians who would do this and more about the citizens who would elect these people. We can blame politicians all we want for doing stupid things but it is "we the people" who keep electing them. The only notable, recent, exception was after the ACA was passed and many of the Democrats that supported it in the House was not re-elected. However, in the Senate as we have gotten farther away from the passage of the ACA those Democrats have become more secure in their positions. Maybe the Democrats support of the Iranian Nuclear Treaty will be remembered this next election. Not sure it will since the Republicans allowed it to be treated as something other than a treaty so an actual vote was not required to pass it.
