What ever is necessary to consolidate state power is righteous in their eyes because the only way to ensure happiness is for the state to tell you what makes you happy and safe. Completely 180 degrees out of what our founders believed and codified in the Constitution. When President Obama, then candidate Obama, said that the Constitution needed to be changed because instead of telling government what it could do it told government what it can't do, he was laying bare the very essence of this difference.
