    Seems very minor punishment considering the volume of weapons stolen. Especially when you look at some of them that he stole he sold and they have been used in crimes including a homicide.

    I agree Shuetz, 17 years is a little light for this crime. It is also more evidence that "mandatory background checks for all sales" is just stupid and will not have much, if any, affect on criminals getting guns.

    As long as there is a black market for guns, no law will be effective (except to burden law-abiding gun owners).

    Exactly. On has only to look at how well anti-drug laws have worked. If tons of Heroin and Cocain can be smuggled, what makes an anti-gunner think banning a gun or tightening down on ownership will slow down crimnals from getting firearms? *Idea* Probably the habitual use of the illegal drugs make them think that.
