    My New 686-6

Here is my new S&W 686 that I picked up Friday. I went with the 6" barrel based on recommendations from the board. My wife saw it and her first comment was why I needed such a big gun! I think I finally got her to understand that just because it is physically the largest handgun I have, it is not necessarily the most powerful (though it is when shooting the .357 mags out of it) that I have. I measured it against my full size 1911 and the S&W is about 2" longer. One of the pictures I put a regular 2 D-cell Maglite next to it for a comparison. I will definitely not be carrying this as a CCW weapon! Hope to take it out in the next couple of weeks to see how she shoots. Maybe we can even get a little competition going! Anyway, here are the pictures.

    Here with the Maglite.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

S&W handguns have a badass-looking profile. Congrats on your purchase.

Now that's a REVOLVER! NICE! Looks very Pythonesk, love the lugged barrel look. That'll take a zombies brain out with one good poke!

    Very Nice!

I would love to add a few more revolvers to my collection. That bulk is going to make it feel like a cap gun when shooting 38 specials out of it.

I looked at my credit card bill on-line yesterday and got a pleasant surprise. I was supposed to get 10% off as this was my first purchase (and probably only purchase) with a new credit card. Turns out the credit company had an extra special going on and I got an additional 5%, for a total of 15% off my first purchase, so I saved almost $150 on the S&W! Needless to say I am pretty happy about that.

Not yet. Waiting on time. Around here going to the range takes some planning. Usually a wait to get a lane and then you shoot by the hour. There is also the need to be able to clean the gun before I take it out. Hopefully today will provide an opportunity. (I know, excuses, excuses!)

Congrats on your new S&W. For some e unknown reason I don't have any L frames in my collection. I spent a good bit of time shooting a friends 586 back in the day and used a 686 on occasion while on active duty so it's not like I didn't know they existed. Just haven't picked one up yet. Need to remedy that.

Considering all the Smith wheel guns you have ... that's a stunning revelation.
