    incoming solar threat

I watch this almost everyday and it does get interesting.
Especially the ways they are starting to predict quake
zones. If we have some ham/sw operators on here tell
me if you notice something over the next few hours.
    24+ hours or so.....

Hasn't hit yet, hf bands are ok as of right now.

With all the damage the sun does to us, skin cancer, radio frequency interference, air temperature, among other things, I am surprised that our enlightened King Barack hasn't proposed legislation banning the sun from the sky.

Thanks 5.56 and Nut don't give them any ideas, plus I also heard this morning that global warming
is causing the earth rotation to slow.

Great news! This means there's even more time to stop globular warmins!

Solar flares? I check the update on youtube every so often but have been too busy with other things lately.

I'm a ham but don't have a base unit yet - just handi talkies and they're not even configured yet. Got to get that done!

It's just a matter of time before a monster CME fires right at us and the resulting geomagnetic storm wipes out our power grid and communications.

At the very least a nationwide power grid shutdown will be required for several hours to avoid physical damage to the grid during the storm, but the comm satellites are screwed.

If your HT's are VHF or UHF, solar activity won't bother them. It's HF (40 meters, 20 meters, etc...) that bounce off the ionosphere that are affected.

Does WWV still broadcast solar weather news? I haven't heard WWV in years......
