Why no wonder he is so anti-"gun", he can't figure out which way to point it, so he blames honest firearm owners for his stupidity. Make him a senator.

that's funny. yep, probably should have checked the chamber before he started cleaning it. I always check, double check, if I set it down for some reason, check it again. and I never have ammo on the bench when I am cleaning.

Same with me. I am almost paranoid of a negligent discharge.

Sadly, Des Moines is kinda like the Seattle/chitcago of the midwest, complete with antigun, 0bama - loving newspaper. And the state has lots of antigun libs running amok in government and law enforcement. They fancy themselves as enlightened, like the libs of NY or CA.

You all are misreading what happened. Sheriff Johnstone KNEW this was going to happen. He knows that all guns are bad and that guns kill people. His service pistol was getting ready to go off and kill countless people, so he did the only thing a responsible LEO could do. He placed himself between his gun and innocent victims. The gun was only able to get off one round before Johnstone was able to wrestle it to the ground. And, he did this while wounded. He saved so many lives that day.

He should be given a medal of valor, or something like that for preventing this gun from going on a killing spree, leaving so many dead and wounded.

It's wanton guns like this that have to be legislated against and Sheriff Johnstone has been doing his best, all along, to warn us of these dangers.

My hat goes off to this LEO for the bravery and courage he showed the other day.

I wish we had more like him serving us.....
