Unidentified Belgian shotgun i picked up yesterday

Went out yesterday to buy a norinco shotgun for $475, got talked out of it by a gunsmith and then picked this up from the same gunsmith. The price was almost a give away. I hope to find out as much as i can about it and also just want to share the pics. I did a google search on the name Centaure but came up with nothing. It is NOT wrapped steel. Looks for as far as i can tell be post 1950'. The smith i bought it from said he put 20 or 30 rounds through it when it first came into his shop and works properly.

Can't help you there with Centaure, but I have twoor three side-by-sides that have the same/similar take down lever on the forend.

Almost any Belgium shotgun is going to be a good gun. Beats the hell out of a Chicom shotgun any day.

Congrats. Looks like a good hunting gun.

Search "Continental Arms", importer of the Centaure Liege shotguns.

I believe you said you paid $100 for that Centaure Liege? You are in for a surprise.

What i have so far from another forum is that the barrels were proofed in 1957 for smokeless powder and that it is 2 3/4 inch chambers.

from personally holding it in my hands i can say it is split as a rock. there is no play in the barrels. It locks up tight. inside of the bores are shiny and clean. I will take this out rabbit hunting sometime this week and see how it goes.

Cool I am so glad it is working. Have fun and leave the wood alone on the other
    until you clean the steel.
