City in Mass. Now Requires Gun Permit Applicants To Write an 'Essay'

Leaders in a Massachusetts city are facing outrage after introducing a law that would require residents to write “an essay” explaining to the state why they want an unrestricted handgun license.

The new directive is rolling out this week in Lowell, a city about 35 miles north of Boston.

In addition to the letter, applicants would have to pay more than $1,000 for their own training, Fox and Friends reports.

I wonder how that would be received if you had the same requirement to get a smart-phone.

This will be fun in court. I seem to remember this was tried once before to keep people from voting. Already a precedent to throw it out

My one line essay: "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

And soon they will require all church goers to write an essay explaining why they worship the way they do.

Wondering when "journalists" will need a license and background check before they can report the news or write a column.....

Agree, it should be a requirement of the license that they swear to report the news in a totally neutral manner under penalty of jail time.

That's sarcasm but they're actually working on this.

Let's make everyone take a test and pay a tax to exercise their right to vote!

Taking an oath didn't stop Obama from acting illegally and trashing the Constitution. I have an idea journalists would treat their oath the same way.

Dat's rasis! The Black Lies Matter thugs would be all over you for even suggesting that.
