    Group Industries Uzi for $800

I was at my LGS picking up some consignment money the other day when I glanced over at an Uzi in the display case and saw a tag that said "Group Industries Uzi - $800." I am going to go back and take a better look at it. Any particular flaws/features I should look for? The price seems pretty good according to what I saw on Gunbroker. I doubt it's an open-bolt gun at that price, but it's on consignment, so you never know. I've bought other consignment guns for super cheap before (SPAS-12, Argentine Navy FN-49, J.C. Smith shotgun).

Worth looking into. Seems like a decent price. Group industries as in before it was purchased by Vector? I do recall some quality control issues. RTG is a great supply for magazines.

no open bolt unless it's a F/A uzi.

take off the top cover and inspect the contact of the bolt to the cover and overall cover fit. thats about it.

That is a great price for a Group Industries Uzi. When Vector took over GI, they bought out the remaining stock so you might find a true Group Industries marked Uzi with the Vector stamp as well.

The Group Industries Uzi is fully interchangeable with IMI UZI parts. I had a buddy that had the IMI, I got the Group. We took them apart and then swapped uppers and lowers between the two weapons. Both functioned flawlessly as mix masters of parts from the two weapons and makers. I always like the O.D. Green furniture on the Groups Uzi's.

Good to know. I'm still kicking myself in the ass for passing up an IMI Uzi for this same price a number of years ago. It had the original box and everything.

I took a look at it today. The price is $850, not 800 like I thought I saw. It is the 9mm pistol version just like the Gunbroker listing that Bishop linked. I had the gun shop employee leave a message to the seller offering $750. We'll see where it goes from here. It comes with two 32-round mags. No other accessories or parts.

ETA: It has the German "D-E-S" lower.

ETA: I've been looking at parts kits and complete receivers. If this deal doesn't go through I figure I can assemble a parts kit Uzi for $500 and some change.

I bought it. $750. Pics to come.

The mags it came with are the junky aftermarket ones - luckily I already have a bunch of IMI mags I had squirreled away.

I like it! I recommend RTG for magazines. I picked up one of these awhile back. Couldn't be happier.

Yeah, that's my take on it as well. Pay the $200 buck tax on freedom and have a proper Uzi carbine.

Maybe some day. The pistols don't look right without the collapsing stock, and the carbine versions don't look right with the long skinny barrel.

For what is worth. The mags that I got had little to no rust on them. Though I have never used any of them.

If you need cheap surplus 25-rounders, SGAmmo carries them for $9. I picked up 10 of them a while back when they were $7.50. They are obviously used but are in great shape.

Good, now join uzitalk.com and learn something about it.

About the pistol not looking proper without the stock......
Take a look at this PISTOL.
    https://www.slickguns.com/sites/defa...43PIS12D_0.jpg
Notice that it has a stock.
These pistols were sold everywhere in the US. The stock is still there but its fixed (welded inside) in the closed position.

Seeing this, I have decided that when I build my pistol I am taking the extra stock I have and welding it in the closed position and then attaching it to the rear of the pistol via the allen screw that normally holds on the stock.
So I'll have a complete and proper looking Uzi but in reality it will be just a pistol.
And I don't know why no one else has thought of this earlier.
I have also seen this done on a M-11. Just the rear part was visible because the rest of the stock wasn't actually there, it was only welded on.

Funny, I was actually thinking about that very same idea. And then I started thinking about what the ATF would think. With the Uzi stock having a vertical plane that presents a surface area for pressing against a shoulder even when collapsed (albeit awkwardly), I would assume the ATF would think of it as similar to a collapsed M4 stock and, thus, would consider such a configuration an SBR. Unlike a welded top-folding or under-folding stock that presents no useful "shoulderable" surface area. Such bullshit that we even have to tip-toe around with stuff like this, but it is what it is.

I post on Uzitalk some as well. Long member though I have a low post count. Lots of good Uzi info there.
