    .223 Wylde

I am in the market for a 16" pencil barrel ( also known as a lightweight) and every time I see on of these retro style barrels they are 1-2 hundred more than a thicker M4 profile barrel. WTF?

Anyway, I keep seeing barrels listed as .223 Wylde, and then the caliber listed is .223, 5.56.

    What is this Wylde?
Is this just a regular AR 223 barrel?

The chamber is a compromise between .223 and 5.56 NATO. This allows it to shoot either type of ammo so they story goes.

I bought one AR barrel in .223 Wylde and have to say it's ability to shoot either round compared favorably to one specifically marked 5.56x45 or 5.56 NATO.
